The Best Way to BAE’s HEART is Through Their STOMACH

Hey Broke Foodies,

It’s that time of year again — the time of year when women loose their minds over giant stuffed teddy bears and cheesy romantic gestures are KING! This rare phenomenon that happens yearly is better known as VALENTINE’S DAY! But, lets get real here. Everyone knows the real prize on Valentine’s day is the food. I mean if your significant other doesn’t take you to a fancy restaurant with a 5 course pre-fixed meal, did you even Valentine?! Yes, I definitely just used “Valentine” as a verb – forgive me.

To answer the previous question, YES, you can win BAE’s heart without the ridiculously over priced fancy V-day dinner. But FOOD is still always the apple of my eye and most peoples. So here are a few creative ideas that will make your wallet and your boo happy!

1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

I know this sounds totally cliche but news flash, EVERYONE loves chocolate + strawberries, you honestly can’t go wrong. You can order/pick them up from practically anywhere: Sherries Berries, Amys Icecream, Dessert Gallery, HEB, the list goes on and on. BROKE FOODIE ALERT: The Chocolate Bar sells their chocolate covered strawberries for 1/2 off after 8pm!

If you want to up the anti – Try making the chocolate strawberries yourself or make a date out of it. Add in some romantic music and Rosé for the full package. Try this recipe from “Sugar Hero”! There’s even a chocolate covered strawberry workshop – click here for more details.

 5. Pizza

Heart shaped pizzas are adorbs! And surprisingly very hard to find. Luckily for you, Papa Johns is offering heart shaped pizzas for V Day. You can get 2 one topping heart shaped pizzas for just $18. If you’re looking for something less mainstream, Houston favorite PINKS pizza is also running a heart shaped pizza special – $18 for a one topping pizza. I got the pizza pictured at the very top of the article from North. They are not currently running a pizza heart special but I asked nicely and they made it happen. Add a sweet message in M&Ms and you will totally have Bae’s heart.

Wine and dine your date at IPIC with their fabulous cocktails, food, and a movie. They have the perfect pink drinks at The Tuck Room like the “El Corazon” & The Norma Jean”! Plus you can snuggle in the little “love seats” they have. Definitely splurge for the upgraded seats and go check out 50 Shades Freed … although I’ll probably wait 2 more days and take in all the action on the 16th with my BF when Black Panther comes out 😁.
