Crityk X Peli Peli Kitchen

I had the pleasure of dining at Peli Peli Kitchen with a South African wine pairing provided by Branwar wines for the launch of the Crityk app in Houston. It was an entertaining event with lots of food, wine, convo, and Houston creatives!

Peli Peli Kitchen

PPK is a melting pot of flavors & cultures! It’s a fast casual restaurant where you can order everything from wings to tacos to curry chicken. PPK is the definition of fusion. The owner, Thomas, embodies all  aspects of the restaurants “KAIZEN” motto which is a Japanese philosophy that strives for continuous improvement including kindness, innovation, and excellence.

Peli Peli Kitchen provided quite the spread for us. We shared a beautiful array of the menu served family style on their wooden slated, photogenic tables. My personal favorites were the peli peli wings, frikadelle burger, and the fish and chips.

  1. Peli Peli wings – It’s all about the sauccceee – they were cripsy and flavorful
  2. Frikadelle Burger – love the toppings; added a complex layer of flavors to a moist and juicy patty
  3. Fish & Chips – the fish was tender, breading was crispy, and seasoned to perfection

PPK not only offers great food, but they are also quite artsy! Everything from the walls to the tables are a bloggers dream! The whole place is decked out in fabulous art and graffiti. Great for taking pics of food or a good selfie.

Branwar wines were also served by the bottle at PPK. The wine purveyor bottles unique blends from six different countries including South Africa. I especially enjoyed the Chenin Blanc, which is a crisp and smooth white wine that pairs well with seafood and roast chicken like the Peli Peli Shrimp & Half Chicken.

What is Crityk?

Crityk is a new food app that helps you discover what to eat, not just where to eat.

Let’s face it, these days everyone and their mom is a self-proclaimed food critic (including myself … * cough cough*). So why not put your credentials to use?  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a restaurant that’s rated highly overall BUT when I get my entree its a complete dud. Next thing you know, I’m hangry and pissed I wasted money on a meal I didn’t like. That’s because apps like Yelp just focus on the big picture, where as Crityk connects with your local foodie community on a more detailed level that helps you make informed menu choices.

The Crityk app is super easy to use too! All you have to do is snap a quick pic, rate using a 5 star system, & hashtag. Yeah, it’s that easy. If #Foodstagram and Yelp had a baby, this would be it! You can also follow your favorite foodies feed, like @_mealswithmel, and check out what they’re saying about the hottest spots.

Download it here & see how it will change your food discovery experience! You may even win a seat at the next Crityk event! Let’s face it, everyone is a Crityk!

Thank you for having me!
