Roof Top Cinema Club

Houston is now home to its very own Rooftop Cinema Club! It joins the ranks of London, Los Angeles, New York, and San Diego. As you can see, the club is pretty exclusive and I’m excited OUR city made the list.  Rooftop Cinema Club opened to the public this past Wednesday, October 3rd, at BLVD Place. I had the pleasure of attending a media preview and I want to share all the fun details with y’all!

Location

Located in the heart of uptown, only minutes from the Galleria on Post Oak and San Felipe. The theaters location is a winner. With picturesque views of the BHP building, the theater is located on level 5 of the Whole Foods Parking Garage in BLVD Place. Parking is plentiful and its nice not to have to worry about valet or scrambling to park on the street.

What’s Playing?

Rooftop Cinema Club is all about the classics. Sadly, you won’t find any new releases here. BUT the line up is pretty awesome. A few of my favorites they will have playing are Mean Girls, Toy Story, and even Black Panther made the cut. You can check out the full line up here. Showings are released for the whole month so you have plenty of advanced notice.

The Setup

The movie screen is HUGE, honestly there really isn’t a bad seat in the house… or should I say on the roof? They have both single seats and love seats. The chairs are deck recliners and in my opinion they aren’t the most comfortable but I also didn’t know I could adjust them. I would definitely recommend bringing a pillow if you have a bad back like me. Each seat also comes with a pair of headphones for the movie so you don’t get any of the noise from the street.

Food

Good Dog is serving up delicious craft hot dogs, sides, desserts, and more for the cinema. I tried four different varieties and they were all amazing! I especially recommend the Guac-A-Dog and Ol’Zapata. Their chips/guac and rocky road dessert are also a must. The cinema also offers bottomless popcorn, pickles, and candies at their traditional snack bar too. Drinks

Much like iPic Theaters, Roof Top Cinema did not skimp on their beverage program. Boasting a full bar with everything from local brews to speciality cocktails like “The Southside Story”, the drinks do not dissapoint. They also have a secret menu with movie themed cocktails like “The Selena” – a mango margarita that packs a spicy punch and “The Back to the Future” made with Jim Beam. The selection can easily stand up to most trendy bars.

Vibes

The breezy rooftop feel totally has me channeling my inner LA or NYC girl. Not to mention the cool purple truck covered in succulents and bright seats in the bar area has me feeling Coachella dessert vibes.  Honestly, I would come just for the drinks and food. The lounge area is also equipped with Jenga, connect four, and a few other games. It’s a great spot to chill out with friends! There are also lots of great IG photo opportunities.

Tips

  • Arrive EARLY – doors open 90 mins early and you’ll definitely want to chill out in the lounge area with a drink, snap some pics, and get situated with your headphones and blanket.
  • Buy the Loveseat package. It’s only $24 with bottomless popcorn. Take bae or go with your bff, it saves you a ton because a regular ticket is $17 by itself (ouch).
  • Reserve EARLY. Movies for all of October are sold out so if you want to go to this hot spot, get your tickets ASAP.
