The Omni Houston just completed a 300 million dollar renovation to take its aesthetic and guest experiences to new heights. The renovations are a hit and the Whiskey bar, La Reserve, steals the show. Even if you’re not staying at The Omni, here are 5 reasons why you need to check out La Reserve.
1. The Ambiance is Cozy & Inviting
The bar is beautifully decorated with plush leather arm chairs and low lighting plush small touches of Texan style make this bar one of a kind.Its a man cave no doubt but beautiful and full of character – old fashioned.
2. Mixologists > Bartender
You won’t find your run of the mill “bartender” here. All of the men behind the bar at La Reserve are certified mixologist. And it shows! The passion they have for their craft and knowledge really shines through. Their also great companions for bar chatter if you need it.
3. It’s Entertaining
Watching the mixologist make up your drink is a mini show and some great entertainment. From shaking to smoking to branding? Yes, that’s right, I said branding. At La Reserve they brand their ice cubes with a special brass stamp, first done at a bar in Kansas City called The Monarch. I think its the perfect touch of style. These guys really know how to put on a performance!
4. Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey, & more Whiskey
The whiskey selection is over the top! They have 99+ to choose from. You are sure to be able to find whatever your little whiskey heart desires.
There’s a cocktail for EVERYONE, even if you’re not a whiskey fan… like me! I fell in love with their LA Reserve Whiskey Sour. The egg white on top is the perfect touch. It’s now my new go to cocktail if I’m drinking brown!
5. The food is fantastic
The food really surprised me! I’m still dreaming about the fried chicken baos. They also come in a pork belly and short rib variation – both equally delicious! The menu is very unique which I love. I also had the chance to try the lobster wedge salad which I would recommend if you’re looking for a lighter option. It’s loaded with lobster and I really normally don’t even like wedge salad so it was an unexpected bonus. They also have an amazing burger to add some local flare to the menu!
