True Italian Taste 2019 Educational Tour

Quick Recap

Last May, I won the 2018 Pasta Blogger Competition hosted by IACC and True Italian Taste. If you’re new to Meals with Mel, you can read about my entry here and how I was announced the winner at Authentic Italian Table’s 1st Annual Houston Pasta Festival here. I’m ecstatic to announce that I will be traveling to the Umbria region of Italy in June for a week of unique experiences curated by True Italian Taste! I am extremely honored and humbled to be taking part in this media trip. I want to thank IACC Texas, the Italian Ministry for Economic Development, True Italian Taste, & the Assocamerestero for this once in a lifetime opportunity!!!

The Region

Umbria is an untouched region located in the center of Italy. It is known as Italy’s green heart and for good reason. The countryside is teeming with wineries, olive oil producers, and rolling green hills! The region is relatively untouched by tourism as well. Which I’m excited about, I hate dealing with the hustle and bustle of large crowds. Touristy spots are also known to be in- authentic & expensive.

The trip will last 5 days, from June 3 to June 8th. I will be traveling to multiple cities in Umbria including Perugia, Spoleto, Montefalco, and many more. I’ll be learning about the region, culture, and most importantly the Italian made products. Our itinerary is still being finalized but I’ve seen the rough draft and the schedule is amazing! I will be so busy from dusk till dawn. The trip is going to be overflowing with fun and exciting activities.

Stay Plugged In

I plan to update my blog daily with short diary like blog posts of what we did each day. I know I haven’t always been the best about updating my site. But I am speaking and writing this one into existence. I want all of you who voted for me and helped me win this trip to feel like you are right there with me!! I’m willing to put in the extra work because you all deserve it.

June 3rd is literally a month away and I think I’m still in shock. I’ve been putting together a pack list, getting my outfits lined up, buying comfy shoes, and alll the travel things. Please leave any Europe travel tips in the comments!

I can’t wait to share this once and a lifetime experience with all of you! I will update when I receive more information. Until then, Ciao!
